2021 GOAL

2020 is the genesis year for DAOSquare, we completed the first stage of DAOSquare’s goals, summoning like-minded people who devote themselves to DAO, and trying out some construction work, such as the DAO hackathon co-hosted with Aragon, MetaCartel Ventures China (see our 2020 review for more on this). In 2021, we officially kicked off the second stage of our goals: to build the DAOSquare incubator.

The DAOSquare incubator consists of two levels of work: technical infrastructure and operation. Our main focus in 2021 and 2022 will be on building the technical infrastructure. This includes:

  • Three modules of the incubator: Treasury module, Governance module, and Vesting.
  • Community Contribution Protocol: DKP.land.
  • Other DAO infrastructure modules, such as DAOSquare Bot.

In addition, of course, we also pay attention to the research of incubation projects and resource network building.

Let’s take a quick look at our 2021:

2021 Quick Overview

In February 2021, DAOSquare closed its first round of funding. It marked a new phase for DAOSquare, and we have more capacity to achieve our Stage 2 goal: an incubator for the Web3 era.

In March 2021, we started to build a Guild team which is a full-time builders organization and got our first full-time member: Raphina. Subsequently, more members began to join. (Currently, Guild members include: Caos, Pucs, Poria, Effy, Emily, Harvey, Akhel, Benjamin, Typto). At the same time, several Gurus joined us successively, including James Young (founder of CollabLand), William. M. Peaster (core member of Bankless), Daniel Hwang, Chris, Lucia.

In March 2021, DAOSquare joined the Panvala Alliance:

In April 2021, DAOSquare closed its second round of funding. Investors include HashKey, Alameda Research, CMS, etc.

In May 2021, we completed the first version of the incubator design. Our goal is to provide an incubator fund management tool that belongs to the web3 era, which can help the innovators of the web3 era while benefiting all participants.

In May 2021, we launched OVO Grants. The goal of OVO Grants is to help innovators in the web3 era grow from 0 to 1, including public goods, early-stage projects, events, and people by building a community charity fund.

In June 2021, OVO Grants donated to Ethermore.

In June 2021, we experimentally incubated meTokens.

In June 2021, we started to incubate a very interesting project, MuseX. MuseX is a content management protocol that allows any individual or organization to build content (including text, audio, video, images) and run its ownership economy through MuseX. MuseX will go live in January 2022.

In August 2021, DKP.land (Community Contribution Agreement) opened public beta:

In September 2021, DKP.land went live. DKP.land is a community contribution protocol and productization of DAOSquare’s thinking about DAO governance. As we stated in our introduction, there are many problems with simply using Token as a governance right. One of the solutions is to balance Token with other factors and package these factors into the final governance representative. DKP is a product based on this thinking. At the same time, DKP.land is also a community operation tool. It can help us better build and unite communities. Through DAOSquare Bot, which serves DKP.land, it is possible to connect on-chain actions with community social scenarios, such as reward distribution. In the next step, we will realize the interaction between DAOSquare Bot and on-chain governance tools, and complete governance on-chain in Discord through DAOSquare Bot. DKP.land will open to all in the next stage.

In September 2021, DAOSquare became a sponsor of Gitcoin GR11:

In September 2021, DAOSquare became a sponsor of MCON, an offline event launched by MetaCartel, which aims to provide a networking scene for thinkers and enthusiasts of the space:

In October 2021, DAOSquare Bistro went online. Bistro is an extension module of DKP.land. It realizes the automatic claiming of community rewards instead of relying on the distribution by the project party.

In October 2021, DAOSquare completed the community distribution of RICE(DAOSquare Governance Token) on the Gnosis Auction, and provided liquidity on Uniswap and Swapr.

In November 2021, we began to think about how to build a more open incubator architecture and made some adjustments to the product plan.

In November 2021, DAOSquare Cafeteria was officially launched. Cafeteria is the first step of DaoSquare towards community-based governance. We began to experimentally invite community members to participate in the governance of DAOSquare. 18 Genesis NFTs have been distributed through DKP.

In November 2021, DAOSquare donated to PadawanDAO. PadawanDAO is a nonprofit organization initiated by Ric (Richard Burton) to help young people, especially students, enter Web3.

In December 2021, Vesting, one of the incubator modules, started internal testing. The Vesting module realizes the function of release of the project’s Token in the incubator, allowing for more flexible and secure distribution of Tokens to investors in accordance with the release rules stipulated in the agreement.

In December 2021, NFTSquarel, a multi-chain NFT trading market, started internal testing. It will mainly serve in scenes such as DAOSquare incubator and DKP. In addition, it will also be open to everyone as a zero-fee trading marketplace.

Alliance & Cooperation

In 2021, we have linked up more like-minded organizations and communities, they are:

  • Panvala
  • DAOhaus
  • 3Box
  • Unlock
  • Loopring
  • Fracton

Outlook Future

We are witnessing DAOSquare moving steadily towards its ultimate goal. We must always remember that goal and the reason why DAOSquare was born. In “The Most Interesting Person Wanted”, Typto wrote this passage:

Since I was a teenager, I have been trying to become a person who can dominate my life; I have always aspired to enter a world where there is no harm, mutual respect, mutual support, sharing, and win-win; I have always been eager to do something cool and worthwhile with some interesting and informative people who are not willing to be ordinary and dare to think and do. I also hope that the matter can be recorded in the annals of history, and will remain in history forever.

This is the origin of DAOSquare and the ultimate goal of DAOSquare. We hope to build a community to achieve this goal and help the people who are not willing to be ordinary to become what they want to be. And DAOSquare’s 2021 is one of the important steps to achieve this goal. And ultimately, it will look like this. And ultimately, it will look like this.:

If you would like to be a part of us and a fellow of our DAO, welcome to join us and witness the day when this goal becomes a reality!
